We all have different roles within the body of Christ. This is what the Lord has been teaching me through the process of becoming a part of The World Race. The commonality between each individual is Christ Himself and the fact that we are all on a journey to be closer to Him, allowing His power to be made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9), and to grow the body of Christ here on earth. The way we, as individuals, go about this differs depending on life circumstances. The opportunity that Lord has given me on the World Race has already required things of me so that I have to be dependent on the Lord. One of those things is learning how to prepare. So far, the best thing that I have come up with on my own is prayer. Psalm 37:4 says “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” I have begun recognizing that the more I pray, the more I recognize the Lord’s desires becoming my own and, in turn, those prayers coming to fruition. Time and time again I have seen this dependance on the Lord through fundraising.

I came in to fundraising not ever expecting that it would be something that I would have to do or depend on. It can be said that it is a spiritual journey in itself. As the body of Christ functions, I have learned that some people have been called to go on a mission trip, and some people feel called to support those going on mission trips. Both are necessary for the functionality of the Great Commission. As the receiver of such a partnership, it has been a beautiful thing to see the two mesh. Because of prayer and the Lord’s provision I can thank God for those who are allowing me to be sent around the world, that they are exactly who I have been praying for prior to our partnership.

My experience on this journey so far has been an analogy of life. There are dry seasons and there are abundant seasons, but even in the dry, the Lord is there, still providing. It takes a boldness, a trust, and a dependence on Jesus and His Church. So, my encouragement to you today is to thank God through prayer for the steps He has provided and the path that He is continually guiding you through.

One response to “The Journey Before the Journey”

  1. Sadie!!! Tears well up in my eyes as I read this. The wisdom and dependence you have in the Lord are inspiring and I’m just over here pinching myself that I get to be your friend and watch the Lord’s plan over your life unfold. Keep being you and living loved and loving the Lord and others! I love you more than words or hugs will ever aptly express
